Welcome to the …….
Is that too open-ended a welcome line? It seems that in today's world there are many voices and many organizations that call. Most of these organizations want your money, your time or support.
There are many truths in the Bible but they need to be mined in order to benefit from them. Jesus often used stories, parables or current happenings to bring people's attention to the true need in their heart and the only One we can lead people to is to that One. It has become very apparent in our day for talented people to become popular and with popularity comes money, with money comes temptations and when the temptations become too great they fall and great is the fall. Have you ever read a really good book and at the end you almost can't believe the feeling that it gives you and you would like to talk to the author and sit down with that person and be able to converse? It is exactly that situation that makes people like that inaccessible - because of popularity.
To say that is what Winnipeg Mission is all about would be too narrow, but we are approximately 2,000 people living in mostly rural Manitoba, Eastern Saskatchewan and Western Ontario. It is these people that have written these stories. No one is harder to reach than the other one and yet our vision is this, that we lead everyone to Christ. I will say it again that following one person will often lead to disappointment.
Our mission on Earth is to do whatever the Spirit tells us to do and that is if someone needs a Bible - give them the Bible, if someone needs a helping hand to weed the garden because of frailty or sickness then we will try and do that. If someone needs some help with learning the English language - maybe we can be of help. Maybe someone is depressed and it feels like you have nowhere to go or to talk to besides seeing a doctor. If someone is happy and content and looking for fellowship we have plenty of people that could be your friend.
One thing that might interest you as a reader is how do we deal with our current state of affairs in the country? To many, this is a very daunting and real subject. Jesus has very clear teaching on this subject and it is the doctrine of non-resistance. He taught that we should pay our taxes, he taught that we should be wise as serpents and harmless as doves, He taught that we should not take up arms, He taught that our lives should be a blessing to others and that we should distribute unto others - the Story of Peace. This is by no means the extent of his teachings but it does give us a big task to fill and in that we feel very small.
So when a group makes a ruckus about gathering to worship in a group of 300, this was the same as Peter did. He took up the sword, cut off the soldier's ear and thought he was a hero and Jesus said put the sword back where it came from. There are many ways to worship and especially with technology now - we have Sunday School online with a meeting app. We can have messages streamed from our ministry and the Bible is in our homes. We can remain courageous, may the Lord bless you.
A Friendly Invitation
A loving greeting to you, my friend, as a fellow pilgrim traveling to that endless eternity that lies beyond the grave for every one of us. We are a body of Christian believers who have answered the loving call of our good Shepherd Jesus Christ and are finding His fellowship sweet and rewarding. As members of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite we are contented and secure in His divine sheepfold, wishing and praying that many more people might find this precious refuge before their lives would terminate.
We know very well that many of our travelers may find life difficult, sad, lonely and distressed because of prevailing circumstances around them. By experience we have learnt that to travel this way without our good Shepherd to guide us is like sailing a ship without a rudder on a large ocean. It is difficult and dangerous, and many souls endure shipwreck and loss.
Therefore we would like to offer friendship and understanding in whatever way possible. Perhaps together with you we can find that safe and dependable refuge that would bring joy, peace and happiness to your soul now and forever,
In this province of Manitoba we are represented by 19 congregations, large or small, in that many locations in the province. Several congregations are within easy driving distance from the city, and their regular Sunday services would bid everyone a warm welcome
In the city of Winnipeg we are represented by a couple living at suite #401, 3299 Pembina Hwy. They would gladly meet with you personally and answer any questions you might have. To make contact with them or attend their services, visit our website at winnipegmissions.org.
Jesus, in the Bible, invites everyone in Mathew 11:28 - 30 thus: Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor,he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, and set at liberty them that are bruised
